TARA does not yet implement all RAS ModelConditions or RemedialAction types supported by other programs. Right now the workaround appears to be to include 2 copies of the contingencies that trigger the RAS, one that implements the action and another that does not. Is anyone aware of other workarounds?
TARA has indicated to utilize the PowerWorld .aux format. Curious if anyone has had experience implementing this. I haven’t invested the time to play with it myself.
TARA indeed requires changing the file extension used in the west, WECC Common RAS Format (*.wcrf) to a PowerWorld format .aux file instead. This works because the format is the same but technically PowerWorld .aux supports a ton of additional features beyond RAS whereas the WECC format is clear that the file only supports RAS and contingencies.
In the latest release, TARA 2503_2, when trying to run RAS, we run into issues with the following RAS actions.
RAS Model condition type not yet supported. Skipping [load]
RAS Model condition type not yet supported. Skipping [lineshunt]
RAS Model condition type not yet supported. Skipping [shunt]
